The National Capital District Provincial Health Authority (NCDPHA), through the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), proudly announces the successful installation of the very first Solar Vaccine Fridge at Nine Mile Clinic.
This milestone initiative, delivered in partnership with UNICEF, the National Department of Health (NDoH), and the EPI Program, is designed to ensure safe and reliable vaccine storage in the face of frequent power outages across Port Moresby.
On behalf of NCDPHA, CEO Dr. Robin Oge highlighted the importance of this achievement:
“This solar-powered innovation is a vital step in safeguarding the health of our people. By ensuring reliable vaccine storage, we are protecting lives and building resilience in our health system.”
In the coming months, other major health facilities will be assessed and prioritized for solar vaccine fridge installations, further strengthening the capacity of the health system to deliver safe and effective immunization services.
NCDPHA’s management extends its sincere appreciation to UNICEF, NDoH, and the Nine Mile Clinic Manager for their commitment and support in making this initiative possible.
