Vision & Goals
Vision: The National Capital District Provincial Health Authority (NCDPHA) envisions a healthy and thriving community within the National Capital District (NCD) of Papua New Guinea. It strives to be a leader in delivering quality healthcare services, promoting public health, and improving the overall well-being of the residents.
Goals:
1. Ensure Equitable Access to Quality Healthcare: The NCDPHA aims to ensure that all residents of the National Capital District have equitable access to high-quality healthcare services. This includes improving the availability and affordability of healthcare facilities, reducing geographical barriers to healthcare access, and addressing disparities in healthcare delivery.
2. Enhance Public Health and Disease Prevention: The authority is committed to promoting public health and preventing diseases within the NCD. It focuses on implementing strategies and initiatives that raise awareness about health issues, encourage healthy behaviors, and reduce the prevalence of preventable diseases through vaccination programs, health education, and community outreach activities.
3. Improve Maternal and Child Health Outcomes: The NCDPHA places a special emphasis on improving maternal and child health outcomes. It aims to reduce maternal and child mortality rates by providing comprehensive maternal and child healthcare services, ensuring access to antenatal and postnatal care, promoting safe deliveries, and implementing programs to address malnutrition and other health risks affecting women and children.
4. Strengthen Emergency Medical Services and Disaster Response: The authority strives to strengthen emergency medical services and disaster response capabilities within the NCD. This involves developing robust emergency preparedness plans, training healthcare professionals in emergency response protocols, ensuring the availability of critical medical supplies and equipment, and coordinating with relevant agencies to provide timely and effective emergency medical care during crises and natural disasters.
5. Foster Collaborative Partnerships: The NCDPHA recognizes the importance of collaboration and partnerships in achieving its goals. It seeks to establish strong relationships with local communities, non-governmental organizations, international partners, and other stakeholders to leverage resources, share knowledge and expertise, and implement effective healthcare programs. By fostering collaborations, the authority aims to create a united front in improving healthcare services and outcomes in the National Capital District.
6. Drive Evidence-Based Policy Development: The NCDPHA aims to play a key role in shaping health policies, guidelines, and standards within the NCD. It actively engages in research, data collection, and analysis to inform evidence-based decision-making. The authority works closely with the Papua New Guinea Ministry of Health and other relevant bodies to develop and implement policies that address the unique healthcare needs of the National Capital District.
By working towards these goals, the NCDPHA strives to realize its vision of a healthy and thriving community in the National Capital District, where residents have access to quality healthcare services, enjoy optimal health outcomes, and live a life of well-being.
