The National Capital District Provincial Health Authority (NCDPHA) convened its first quarterly District Health Services meeting with Clinic Managers and Heads of Departments from Pathology, Radiology, and Pediatrics.

The 2025 Clinical Review presented by Dr. Niltainde and Sr. Oliver Ume followed by discussions on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and the new Reporting Template. Other key updates included the rollout of the National Health Information System (NHIS) for facilities.

The highlight of the program was the official distribution and advocacy of the first-ever PNG National Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Guidelines 2025 to all Clinic Managers and Heads of Departments. This landmark document is a requirement under the National Health Service Standards for every health facility.

This IPC Guidelines were spearheaded by NCDPHA IPC Manager Rueben Kingal, with support from the National Department of Health (NDoH), World Health Organization (WHO), University of Newcastle, GROAN, HSSDP (NDoH), and IPC officers from Provincial Health Authorities (PHAs).

NCDPHA is the first Provincial Health Authority in Papua New Guinea to receive the newly released National IPC Guidelines 2025, ahead of other 23 PHAs. This milestone strengthens health standards through IPC programs in urban health facilities and Gerehu General Hospital.

Dr. Robin Oge, CEO of NCDPHA, commended the achievement:

“The distribution of the National IPC Guidelines 2025 is a historic step for NCDPHA and for Papua New Guinea. Being the first PHA to receive and implement these guidelines reflects our commitment to raising health standards, protecting patients, and empowering our frontline staff. This milestone is not just about compliance—it is about saving lives and ensuring safer healthcare for our communities.”

The National Capital District Provincial Health Authority’s (NCDPHA) management is dedicated to delivering quality health services, strengthening public health systems, and fostering partnerships that improve the wellbeing of communities across Port Moresby and the Motu Koitabu communities.
