Across National Capital District, NCD Provincial Health Authority and partners are on the move, meeting, assessing, and planning with all frontlines health workers and volunteers to ensure every child is protected from polio.
All dedicated health workers, volunteers and partners are coming together to review lessons learned and address gaps from Round 1, in preparation for Round 2 of the nationwide Supplementary Immunization Activity (SIA) especially in Port Moresby, starting on 13 October 2025.
The successful control of polio requires both SIA rounds to achieve at least 95% coverage. With current national coverage at 82.9%, the next round is critical as it aims to close the remaining gap and reach every child under 10.
Whether it’s through refresher training, advocacy meetings, or readiness assessments, the NCD PHA’s management and the public health team is focused on one goal: a polio-free PNG.
