
The National Capital District Provincial Health Authority (NCDPHA) proudly joined partners, leaders, and community representatives to commemorate National Women’s Day at APEC Haus in Port Moresby.
The event celebrated the achievements, resilience, and contributions of women across Papua New Guinea, while reaffirming the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment in health, leadership, and community development. Inspiring addresses from health leaders, advocates, and role models highlighted the critical role of women in shaping healthier, stronger, and more inclusive societies.
Miss Bird of Paradise, Iampela Popen, shared her perspective as a youth advocate:
“Today we celebrate the strength and beauty of Papua New Guinean women. Our voices matter, our dreams matter, and together we can break barriers and create a future where every woman and girl has the chance to shine.”

“Women are at the heart of our health system—whether as caregivers, professionals, or advocates. National Women’s Day is a call to action to support women in every sphere, ensuring they have the resources, recognition, and respect they deserve.”
Dr. Robin Oge, CEO of NCDPHA, emphasized the organization’s commitment to women’s empowerment:
“National Women’s Day is a reminder that empowering women is not only a matter of equity, but also a cornerstone of building healthier communities. At NCDPHA, we are committed to creating opportunities for women to lead, to thrive, and to inspire the next generation.”
