Metoreia Health Centre has successfully conducted Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) training for its support staff, reinforcing its commitment to patient safety and quality healthcare delivery.
The training focused on equipping staff with practical skills to prevent the spread of infections within the health facility. Topics included proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), waste management, cleaning and disinfection procedures, and safe patient-care practices.
Metoreia Health Centre Manager HEO Regina Wuri emphasized the importance of IPC in safeguarding both patients and healthcare workers.
The training was facilitated by the National Capital District Provincial Health Authority (NCDPHA) in collaboration with public health partners. It forms part of ongoing efforts to build capacity at frontline health facilities and reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections.
Key outcomes of the training include:
• Improved hand hygiene and cleaning practices.
• Correct use of PPE by support staff.
• Safer waste disposal and environmental management.
• Stronger teamwork in maintaining infection-free spaces.
The Chief Executive Officer for NCD PHA Dr. Robin Oge has commended the management of Metoreia Clinic and the IPC team for their effort.
“Community members must continue to practicee good hygiene and to support health workers in their efforts to keep the facility safe,” said Dr. Oge.
