
The Public Health team from NCD Provincial Health Authority is rolling out the Polio Campaign in the National Capital District and Motu Koita Communities. The management of NCD PHA aims to achieve the national target of 95% within these 15 days (13th October- 31st October) polio campaign in NCD.
The second round of the Nation-wide Polio Vaccination Campaign aims to protect all children between the age of 0-10 from the poliovirus. During the first round of the polio campaign, NCDPHA has achieved 97.8% with the support of the partners and NCDPHA’s management.
The Chief Executive Officer for NCD PHA Dr. Robbin Oge said that NCD PHA has vaccinated 133, 000 children during the first round of Polio Campaign in the National Capital District. He acknowledges the effort of all volunteers, staff, parents, community leaders and partners for this achievement.
The Governor for NCD Hon. Powes Parkop has acknowledged NCD PHA for their achievement in the first round of the polio campaign. Governor Parkop is appealing to the residents of NCD and Motu Koita Villages to participate in the second round of Polio Campaign to ensure every child’s health is secured.
Dr Oge said that “With the existence of Poliovirus in Papua New Guinea, it is a must that every child below the age of 10 have to be vaccinated and protected from polio.”
He acknowledges the Governor for National Capital District Hon. Powes Parkop for his unwavering support in health service in NCD. Dr Oge extends his sincere acknowledgement to the Minister for Health Hon. Elias Kapavore and the Acting Health Secretary Mr. Ken Wai for their continued support to NCD PHA during the Polio Campaign and other projects.
“I assure the public that the Polio Vaccine is Safe, Effective and Free, ” said Dr. Oge. It is our responsibility to protect our children’s health and wellbeing and to ensure that they grow up to be the next leader of this country.
