Message from Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Robin Oge
Greeting to you all. As the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the newly established National Capital District Provincial Health Authority (NCDPHA), I take great pleasure in heading the development of this very important organizational blueprint, the Corporate Plan, with the support of the management team. This Corporate Plan is the first since achieving the status of a full pledged PHA. Since assuming office as the permanent CEO for NCDPHA, my immediate task within the parameters of my KPIs, was to develop an overarching policy framework, which projects, guides and drives the functionality, stability and growth of the new NCDPHA.
It is my dream and desire to make NCDPHA a model PHA in the country. From the many key priorities, I foresee establishing a fully functioning Provincial Health Authority for the metropolitan city of Port Moresby. Secondly to establish a fully functional Level-5 Gerehu Provincial Hospital with state-of-the-art services tailored to meet the ever-increasing needs and demands of our patients and service users. The establishment of support services includes radiology, laboratory, blood transfusion and other services. The installation of radiology (x-ray) services at the Gerehu Hospital and two others at the Lawes Road and 6-Mile Clinics is a testament to our ongoing growth.
NCDPHA has commenced work on improving key clinical services, including improvements to wards, ICU, emergency department, birthing and isolation facilities (for COVID-19 & MDR-TB), operating theatre (OT), sterilizing unit, dental and other clinical services.
Our work in progress entails refurbishment and improvement of existing infrastructures, including proposed NCD/Gerehu Specialist Referral Hospital at Tete (Gerehu) in the Moresby North-West Electorate.
We will continue to build clinical and administrative management capacity of key officers to effectively plan, manage and implement the Corporate Plan.
In developing this ambitious but achievable Corporate Plan, we are well aware that our governments both national and provincial, and generous development partners with whom we shall endeavor to negotiate and forge important alliances tailored at creating and achieving new milestones in the city.
I am confident with the highly esteemed, and experienced management team to manage, lead and provide guidance and drive key programs and interventions towards a secured future for NCD. It has always been our desire to have a SMART plan; aims, objectives and must be simple and specific to meeting the needs of our people.
I call upon everyone to embrace partnership, accountability and teamwork to ensure commitment and dedication to realize our Vision. “To lead the country in the development of a health system that is responsive, resilient, equitable and people centered healthcare delivery in NCD”.
At this juncture, I would specially thank the Corporate Plan Development Committee and the Secretariat for the preliminary work undertaken until the completion of this document. I extend the same sentiment to the divisional heads, line managers and support staff, who equally accorded the same level of support.
I am committed and together with you all, we can achieve the desired outcomes of the Corporate Plan 2022-2026.
